‘World Patient Safety Day’
#CreatingAwareness
Did you know?
Today is celebrated as ‘World Patient Safety Day’
It is one of the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) pivotal global public health initiatives since 2019. It aims to raise awareness about the importance of patient safety within clinical and healthcare environments.
According to a report by WHO, as many as one million fatalities are reported annually due to error in patient safety, especially during or after an operation of the patient. Additionally, over two million people reportedly suffer from unsafe medical care per year, which is an alarming number.
As per a research, more than 3 million deaths occur due to unsafe care.
Statistics show that 7-15% patients admitted to acute-care hospitals get HAI (Hospital Acquired Infection). And 10% of HAI cases die from it.
Hence, preventing this harm happening to patients is as important as giving effective treatment and their recovery.
